Tsunami Related Work
No sooner we heard about the Tsunami disaster on 26th December 2004 our committee decided to donate £1000.00 for immediate Tsunami Relief work. The funds were made available to the OBA(SL) in the first week of January 2005 to assist in their Tsunami relief activities. Our members who were in Sri Lanka at the time took the opportunity to participate in relief work while those in the UK worked tirelessly helping with the activities conducted by the temples, Sri lanka High Commission, charities and also on their own.
AOA
- Donated Rs.150,000.00 for the Lanka Lamai Pre-school established to help Tsunami affected chidren in the Unawatuna area, Galle.
- The total 2005 Avurudu Uthsava profits was allocated to help Tsunami Relief Work in Sri Lanka.
- Donated £1000.00 in January 2005 for the immediate Tsunami Relief Work undertake by the College & the OBA(SL)
Members, Anandians & Associates
- Individual donations collected by Suren amounting to around £800.00 for the Tsunami Relief Work undertake by the College & the OBA(SL)
- Anandians and family members engaged in Tsunami Relief Work including medical voluntary work.
- Na Tree Foundation (Na Tree Foundation)
- Individual collections of food stuff, clothes, medical supplies etc. and donations for the Tsunami Appeals conducted by the temples
and the Sri Lankan High Commission in the UK.
- Individual collections and donations to the Tsunami Appeals conducted by the Donors based in the UK.
